GPT-6 Astra launches into gradual rollout
OpenAI launches GPT-6 Astra with phased availability for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and API. Help Center notes availability can differ between Chat, Work and Codex.
On Sep 3, OpenAI's Codex lead promised one banked reset for every day without Astra access, first landing in ~3 hours. The Help Center now documents exactly two grant days: Sep 3 + Sep 4. Paid users with Astra in Work still see only GPT-5.x in Codex on Sep 6. This page tracks that gap with sources - and your anonymous data point.

What "one per day without access" implies vs what is documented. Primary sources in the receipts section.
| Day | Promised (literal) | Documented |
|---|---|---|
| Sep 3 | +1 banked reset | Granted (Help Center) |
| Sep 4 | +1 banked reset | Granted (Help Center) |
| Sep 5 | +1 if still no Astra | Not documented; separate full-reset report |
| Sep 6 | +1 if still no Astra | Not documented |
OpenAI says availability can differ between Chat, Work and Codex. An account can hold Astra-powered GPT-6 in Work while Codex still shows GPT-5.6 only. That split is the most-reported pattern - the survey splits all three surfaces.
Existing Plus, Pro and Business users in good standing should have two resets (Sep 3 + Sep 4). Only showing one total? Check Settings -> Usage and send Support a screenshot. The Help Center says they can investigate.
OpenAI explicitly says purchasing extra credits does not accelerate Astra access. What does matter: Codex CLI 0.153.0+ and the latest desktop app. Full checklist in the check section.
Six exhibits, oldest first. Scroll - the spine fills as you go. Confirmed items link to primary sources; secondary reports are labelled REPORTED.

"We will give one banked reset for every day you don't have access to Astra on your paid ChatGPT plan, starting today. First one will land in ~3 hours." Altman reshares and apologises for the "messy rollout".
Existing Plus, Pro and Business users in good standing receive a banked reset on Sep 3 AND Sep 4. New-account cutoffs: before 10pm PT Sep 3, before 8pm PT Sep 4. No Sep 5 or Sep 6 grant is documented.
Secondary coverage reports Tibo posted that Astra rolled out "ahead of schedule" with a full banked reset for all Plus, Pro and Business users landing end of day, cutoff 8pm PT for new signups/upgrades. Verify against the original X thread - treated as REPORTED here, not confirmed.
Users report Astra available in ChatGPT Work while Codex still shows only GPT-5.x models. One unverified report of Windows desktop Codex lagging web/mobile. No Denmark/EU exclusion documented - rollout is described as account-by-account.
Taken literally, "one reset per day without access" implies Sep 5 and Sep 6 grants for accounts still missing Astra in Codex. The Help Center only documents Sep 3 + Sep 4. That delta - plus the Chat/Work vs Codex distinction - is what the survey below measures.
Open each source, screenshot your own Settings -> Usage page, and attach both when contacting Support.
Screen recording from my own account: a banked rate-limit reset granted - while the Codex model picker still tops out at GPT-5.6 Sol. One half of the promise kept.

We will give one banked reset for every day you don't have access to Astra on your paid ChatGPT plan, starting today. Team is moving mountains to give access as fast as we can.
First one will land in ~ 3 hours. There is still time to create your account if you don't have one.
Help Center: existing Plus, Pro, Business users in good standing receive a banked reset on both Sep 3 and Sep 4. New-account cutoffs 10pm PT / 8pm PT. Eligibility varies by plan, region, availability - subject to change.
Astra "rolling out gradually", availability can differ between Chat, Work and Codex. Codex needs CLI 0.153.0+ / latest desktop app. Credits don't accelerate access.
Secondary coverage reports a Sep 5 "full banked reset for all Plus, Pro, Business" post with an 8pm PT signup cutoff. Treat as reported until you verify the original X thread yourself.
Do these five checks so nobody can dismiss your report as an old client.

OpenAI says availability can differ between Chat, Work and Codex. Tibo's post said "on your paid ChatGPT plan" without naming a surface, while the Help Center grants are tied to plan, not surface. This ambiguity is exactly why the survey splits Chat / Work / Codex answers.
Per the Help Center: existing Plus, Pro and Business users in good standing should have TWO - one from Sep 3 and one from Sep 4. If you only see one total, check Settings -> Usage and contact Support with a screenshot; the Help Center says Support can investigate missing resets.
No. OpenAI explicitly says purchasing extra credits does not accelerate Astra access. The Codex requirement that IS documented: Codex CLI 0.153.0+ and the latest desktop app.
No exclusion has been documented. The rollout is described as gradual and account-by-account, not region-blocked.
ChatGPT desktop app, CLI or web: Settings -> Usage. Look for "1 reset available" / "Full reset". Applying a full reset refreshes 5-hour and weekly windows and moves your weekly reset date.
No. Independent community tracker. Claims link to primary sources; secondary reports are labelled REPORTED until verified.
